- Environments Overview
An environment defines where to deploy IBM StreamSets engines. An environment represents the resources needed to run the engines.
- Feature Versions
When you create an environment, you select the feature version to use for that environment and for all deployments created for the environment.
- Self-Managed Environments
In a self-managed environment, you take full control of procuring the resources needed to run engines and deploying engine instances to those resources. A self-managed environment can represent local on-premises machines or cloud computing machines.
- AWS Environments
An Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment represents the Amazon virtual private cloud (VPC) in your AWS account where engines are deployed.
- Azure Environments
A Microsoft Azure (Azure) environment represents the Azure virtual network (VNet) in your Azure account where engines are deployed.
- GCP Environments
A Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment represents the Google virtual private cloud (VPC) network in your Google Cloud account where engines are deployed.
- Kubernetes Environments
A Kubernetes environment represents the namespace in your Kubernetes cluster where StreamSets engines are deployed.
- Environment States
When you view the list of environments in the Environments view, you can view the state of each environment.
- Environment Tags
An environment tag identifies similar environments. Use tags to easily search and filter environments when viewing them in the Environments view. For example, you might want to group environments by the team or project.
- Managing Environments
When you manage environments, you can filter the list of displayed environments, activate or deactivate environments, edit environments, and view all deployments belonging to the environment.
