Comparing Offerings
IBM© StreamSets is available through the following offerings:
- IBM StreamSets as a Service
- IBM StreamSets as a Service is a cloud service that is fully managed by IBM. You simply need an IBM StreamSets account to log in.
- IBM StreamSets as client-managed software

IBM StreamSets as client-managed software is managed by customers. You must install IBM© Software Hub and then install IBM StreamSets on IBM Software Hub.
IBM StreamSets as client-managed software is available starting with IBM Software Hub version 5.1.0.
This documentation applies to both offerings. When information applies exclusively to one offering, the documentation indicates the supported offering.
Most functionality is the same for both offerings. However, the offerings differ in the following ways:

Organizations | When you sign up for an IBM StreamSets account, IBM creates an organization for you, and you become the primary organization administrator. You invite other users to your organization. | Your IBM StreamSets system administrator creates organizations, and designates the primary organization administrator for each. The organization administrator invites other users to the organization. |
Environments | You can create all environment types - AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, and self-managed. | You can create Kubernetes and self-managed environments. |
